The College of Applied Medical Sciences in Al-Kharj, represented by the Community Responsibility Unit and the Student Work Unit, participated in an awareness campaign under the slogan “United in Our Uniqueness”, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, under the patronage of the Deanship of Student Affairs for Female Students.

The campaign was held over three days—from Sunday to Tuesday, October 12–14, 2025—across several colleges of the university at the female campus. The College of Applied Medical Sciences participated throughout the three days with awareness booths and a lecture titled “Early Detection: Health and Prevention.” The lectures were delivered by female faculty members of the college on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the College of Engineering in Al-Kharj, and on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the College of Education and the Applied College in Al-Dilam.

Dr. Alaa Saud Al-Hujaili, Vice Dean of the College for Female Student Affairs, attended the opening of the college’s awareness booths at the College of Engineering in Al-Kharj on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She toured the event booths and listened to detailed explanations from faculty members and students about the activities presented by the departments of the College of Applied Medical Sciences. The campaign aimed to achieve its core objectives—particularly promoting health awareness, education, and encouraging early detection among staff and students of the non-health colleges at the university. The overall goal of the campaign was to raise awareness and improve health education regarding breast cancer prevention and the importance of early screening.

The college contributed significantly to achieving the campaign’s objectives through its participation, which included informative brochures, pamphlets, giveaways, and visual displays. These materials covered topics such as the definition of breast cancer, methods of prevention, diagnostic and treatment techniques, the importance of early detection, and the role of genetics in the development of the disease. The exhibits also explained how to prepare for mammogram imaging, corrected common misconceptions about medical imaging, and highlighted the role of physical therapy following mastectomy in improving arm and shoulder mobility, gradually restoring muscle strength, and enhancing patients’ quality of life. Additionally, home exercises that aid in faster recovery and return to daily activities were demonstrated.

Faculty members and students provided comprehensive explanations to attendees from various colleges about all aspects of breast cancer, along with delivering the lecture “Early Detection: Health and Prevention” at the theaters of the College of Engineering in Al-Kharj and the College of Education in Al-Dilam.

The three-day event, held daily from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, witnessed a large turnout and enthusiastic participation from the university community, reflecting keen interest in the valuable health information and awareness activities presented.
