Currently the healthcare sector is expanding rapidly aided by the advances of medical technology. Huge volume of medical information is becoming available to healthcare personals. To maintain such sophisticated technologies requires high level skilled specialists in the area of instrumentation and medical informatics. At the moment, the dependence on foreign expertise is high for running healthcare systems.
The demand for Biomedical Technology Specialists is increasing in several areas:

As the health sector is growing faster in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia resulting in the introduction of new technologies in hospital institutions. Thus, the national need for specialists in the field of biomedical technology arises and becomes a national priority. As a consequence, training in this field is required urgently. The outcomes of this program is to graduate the needed specialists in the field of quality control, maintenance, management, installation and upgrading of medical equipment in Saudi Arabia.
The educational objectives of the Biomedical Technology program are aligned with the mission of PSAU and the College of Applied Medical Sciences, and the Saudi Vision 2030 . The objectives of this program are to educate students to:

Department News
Students from the Public High School Visit the Department of Biomedical Technology
On 02/02/2025 (Sunday), a delegation of Students from AlKharj Public Schools Visited the Various LABs of Our Department: The main Objective of the Visit were to Showcase the potentials of the Department as well as the perspective careers offered to the Students.
Student's visit to the Prosthetics & Orthotics Centre : Students of PSAU department of biomedical technology organized a visit to the Prosthetics & Orthotics Care center as part of the developments of their end of graduation project works. The visit took place on 05/092024.
Student's participation to a 3D printing Workshop : November 2 and 3, 2024, Students from the department of biomedical engineering attended a 3D printing workshop organized by the Saudi biomedical engineering association in Collaboration with CODE Riyadh.
IEEE student meeting : December the 3'd 2024,(Lecture Room of Nursing Department), an IEEE meeting was arranged for the Biomedical Engineering technology department, Dr. Nizar Rokbani(IEEE volunteer) presented IEEE association and its benefices for the students with a focus on the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
Graduation projects 1 Presentations’ : On December 2024, the Department of Biomedical technology organized the Graduation Projects 1, six graduation projects 1, have been presented and evaluated at the auditorium of the the coleage of applied medical sciences, PSAU.
